My Bio
cynicdesign is an independent graphic artist and photo editor working on the West Coast of the US. Formerly a student of the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. I have since spent more than 10 years designing for various clients; from agency advertising and packaging design for major food and wine importers to independent graphic styling for the adult film industry and all variety of projects in between.

To begin, I think DeviantArt is a fantastic site. And I never use the word Fantastic so you know it's good. There are so many artists at such a wide range of experience and skill. And I think it's great that this site has caught on and become a marketplace for influence and ideas... But where are the critiques? I make it a point to go out and give constructive, relevant criticism to any piece of work that I think I can speak on. In many of my deviations descriptions I actually invite constructive criticism. Not idle compliments (don't get me wrong, those are great!) but actual constructive critique of the concept, the execution... Tips and

Portfolio work

It's been a predictably slow winter. You take the good with the bad though. I've had a lot of down time to spend working on my portfolio. I've been able to add some pieces that have been languishing on my to-do list and I think the whole portfolio experience is coming together well, especially my work here on DeviantArt. I think I just might have enough well presented pieces in here to give a decent idea of my overall abilities. Still haven't found a good format for submitting my packaging designs. And I have some great flyer art that I'd still like to put up. Other than that, it's gonna be all new stuff come Summer. ...Hmmm... should
